Newport County Secures Welsh Striker Christian Doidge
Newport County have announced the signing of experienced Welsh striker Christian Doidge. The 33-year-old forward was a free agent after being released by National League club Forest Green Rovers at the conclusion of last season.
Newport, competing in League Two, have not disclosed the duration of Doidge's contract at their Rodney Parade home ground.
Born in Newport, Doidge is returning to his hometown club after a career that has included multiple clubs. This marks his second spell at Forest Green Rovers, having previously played for Bolton Wanderers, Hibernian, and Dagenham & Redbridge among others.

Christian Doidge's early senior career was spent in Wales, where he played for Cwmbran Celtic, Croesyceiliog, Barry Town, and Carmarthen Town. His first English club was Dagenham & Redbridge, and he also had a loan spell at Dartford.
During his initial tenure at Forest Green Rovers, Doidge contributed to the club's promotion to the English Football League (EFL). After a brief period at Bolton Wanderers, he transferred to Hibernian, where his performances sparked discussions about a potential call-up to the Wales national team.
In 2024, Doidge returned to Forest Green Rovers before becoming a free agent and subsequently signing with Newport County.
