Keion White Undergoes Surgery Following Ankle Shooting
San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White has undergone surgery after sustaining a gunshot wound to his ankle. The incident occurred shortly after 04:00 local time on Monday. Authorities have indicated that the injury is not life-threatening nor expected to end White's career. The San Francisco Police Department has not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting.
White, who was present at Levi's Stadium on Sunday for the Super Bowl where his former team, the New England Patriots, were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks, is currently with the 49ers. The 27-year-old was traded to San Francisco in 2025. Including playoff appearances, he participated in 11 games last season.
Originally selected as the 46th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, White has played in 47 games and started 20 since entering the league. Over his career with both the Patriots and 49ers, he has accumulated 100 tackles, 7.5 sacks, nine passes defended, and two forced fumbles.
White is the second player from the 49ers to be shot in the last 18 months. His teammate Ricky Pearsall was previously injured during an attempted robbery.
