Glamorgan Duo Norton and Wallace Named in England U19 Squad
Glamorgan cricketers Tom Norton and Harry Wallace have been selected for the England Under-19 squad to compete against South Africa in a series of three one-day internationals scheduled from 30 June to 6 July.
All-rounder Tom Norton, aged 18, has featured in two Championship matches this season. Notably, he achieved a hat-trick on his debut against Somerset in May, becoming the youngest player to take a first-class hat-trick for Glamorgan. Additionally, he holds the record as the youngest cricketer from any team to accomplish a first-class hat-trick on debut.
Seventeen-year-old wicket-keeper and batter Harry Wallace has demonstrated strong performances for Glamorgan's second XI. He is also the son of Glamorgan's director of cricket, Mark Wallace.
Additional Glamorgan Players in England Development Squad
Alongside Norton and Wallace, Glamorgan batters Jack Hope-Bell and Jacob Blades have been named in a shadow England development squad. This squad will participate in warm-up matches against England and South Africa on 26 and 27 June.
The one-day international series will be followed by two age-group 'Test' matches. For Norton, Wallace, and Blades, this represents their first selection at this competitive level.
Club's Perspective on Player Development
"I am really pleased for the four boys, they have worked really hard and thoroughly deserve their selections," Glamorgan's head of talent pathway Richard Almond said on the club website.
"As part of our wider strategic plan the club has increased its investment in our pathway, so it is good to see the work the coaches are putting in start to pay dividends. We all wish the boys well in their upcoming matches."
