Tragic Water Incident at Elthorne Park

A woman and a child, believed to be mother and son, have died after encountering difficulties in the water at Elthorne Park in Ealing, west London.

The Metropolitan Police reported that emergency services responded to the incident on Saturday, but despite their efforts, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ongoing Investigation

An investigation into the circumstances is currently underway. Police have stated that "all initial indications are that the circumstances are not suspicious." Officers are also working to identify the next of kin of the deceased.

Official Statement

Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray, from the West Area Command Unit, expressed his condolences and acknowledged the response efforts:

"This is a tragic incident in which a woman and her young child have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their loved ones."
"I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the first responders and members of the public who did their very best in an incredibly challenging situation."
"While an investigation into what took place is under way, all initial indications are that the circumstances are not suspicious."
