Arrests Made in Golders Green Memorial Arson
Two individuals have been detained on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following damage to a memorial wall in Golders Green, north London, on 27 April.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 46-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on Monday morning as part of an investigation led by counter-terror policing.
Both suspects were apprehended in Romford and remain in custody at a London police station.
Police Statement and Community Impact
Commander Helen Flanagan stated:
"Police are committed to protecting vulnerable communities in the capital."
The memorial wall in Golders Green served as a display area for photographs of protesters who were killed by the Iranian government during a crackdown on demonstrations in January.
Additionally, a section of the wall commemorates victims of the 2023 Hamas attack on the Nova music festival in Israel. Nearby, a tree bears a recent message expressing solidarity with the Jewish community.
