Lottery Win Surprises Cheshire Woman
Nancy Barkley, 80, from Crewe near Cheshire, has won £333,333 in the Postcode Lottery after her husband secretly entered the ticket in her name, believing she was luckier than himself.
Barkley described the win as unbelievable and has shared the £1 million prize pot with two of her neighbours.
Her husband Colin, 69, commented on the decision to enter the ticket under her name:
"I told her she was the lucky one. Looks like I was right."
The couple, who emphasize they are not "flashy people," now plan to move out of their rented home and purchase a property together.
Life-Changing Prize
When asked about the significance of the win, Barkley, a former factory worker, said:
"This is just unbelievable. I never expected anything like that amount. I thought £1,000... anything over that is a bonus.
This is a blooming big bonus."

The great-grandmother of two previously worked as a cutter for Chester Barrie, a clothing factory that produced designer men's clothes worn by Royals, footballers, and Formula 1 stars.
Regarding their future plans, Barkley added:
"We only rent, so this changes everything. We can buy the bungalow that we've always wanted.
We're not flashy people. We don't drink and we're happy with simple things. We like going out for lunch and little trips away."
Recent Relocation and Health Challenges
The couple recently moved back to Crewe after retiring to Wales several years ago. Worsening health issues necessitated their return to be closer to family.
Barkley faced a breast cancer diagnosis two years ago and underwent a lumpectomy. Although the cancer was successfully removed, she later experienced severe illness due to an infection and digestive complications.
She recounted her health struggles:
"At one point I went a whole month hardly eating or drinking. I ended up in hospital on drips and intravenous antibiotics."
She reports having now recovered and looks forward to enjoying her winnings.
