Search Underway for Missing Boy in River Ribble

A search operation is currently in progress for a boy who remains missing after encountering difficulties while swimming in a river.

The child was accompanied by friends when he entered the River Ribble at Ribchester in Lancashire, according to police reports.

Authorities were alerted to concerns for the boy's welfare shortly after 14:00 BST.
