Life Sentence for Man Who Killed Stepfather and Dog

A former college student, Logan Procter, 20, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after fatally stabbing his stepfather and the family dog. The incident occurred on 22 October at a residence on Valley Road, Shirebrook.

During the attack, Procter used two knives to inflict over 70 wounds on Christopher Owen, 57, and caused 15 stab injuries to the family's Jack Russell, named Poppy.

At Derby Crown Court, it was revealed that Procter had a collection of knives and Samurai swords at the family home. He expressed a desire to end multiple lives.

Procter entered a guilty plea for murder in January. On Friday, he was sentenced to life custody with a minimum term of 20 years and 10 months.
