A man in his 40s was fatally struck by a train after reportedly escaping from a vehicle transporting him from a police station to court. The vehicle, operated by a transport contractor, was stationary on the A1(M) motorway during the transfer from the Stevenage custody suite when the escape occurred, according to a joint statement from Hertfordshire Police and British Transport Police (BTP).
