Royal Navy Statement

The Royal Navy stated that the individuals "unsuccessfully attempted" to gain access to the base.

"As the matter is subject to an ongoing investigation, we will not comment further."

The nationality of the woman involved has not been disclosed.

Significance of Faslane Base

Faslane serves as the home port for all of the Royal Navy's nuclear submarines, including the Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarines equipped with Trident nuclear missiles.

The four Vanguard-class submarines are the exclusive carriers of the United Kingdom's nuclear arsenal. Plans are in place for these submarines to be succeeded by the new Dreadnought-class submarines after 2030.
