Tribute Following Alleged Attack in Edinburgh

The family of a man who died following an alleged assault in Edinburgh have paid tribute to a "much-loved son and uncle."

Police were called to reports of an assault in Morison Gardens, South Queensferry, at approximately 06:10 on Friday morning.

Emergency services attended the scene, but Leigh McDonald, aged 54, was pronounced dead at the location.

A 58-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

Police Scotland confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course.

Family Statement and Police Response

McDonald's family issued a statement through the police force requesting privacy during this difficult time.

"We are devastated at the loss of a much loved son and uncle. Leigh was loved by many people who will also be affected by this.
We are taking it a day at a time, and we ask that our privacy is respected as we try to come to terms with what has happened."

Police have indicated that additional patrols will be deployed in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.

Members of the public with concerns are encouraged to approach these officers.
