A9 Reopens Following Tesco Lorry Fire

The A9 has reopened after emergency services responded to a Tesco delivery lorry that caught fire.

The incident occurred south of Dunkeld, in Perth and Kinross, at approximately 06:21, resulting in the closure of the road in both directions.

Three fire engines attended the scene and traffic diversions were implemented. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Police Scotland confirmed that the road was reopened to all vehicles around 17:40, after being closed for about 11 hours.

Images captured at the scene showed a large plume of thick, black smoke rising from the lorry, which was fully engulfed in flames.

Aerial photographs later revealed the burnt remains of the vehicle, which displayed the Tesco supermarket branding on its side.

Other motorists recounted how drivers rushed to the lorry to ensure the driver had safely exited the cab.

One told BBC Scotland News he had "got out ok".

Eyewitnesses described the flames as "the highest they had ever seen."
