Tragic Death of Victoria Hart in Spain
A British mother of three, Victoria Hart, aged 33 and originally from Solihull, has died in Spain. She passed away on 24 January in Alhaurín el Grande, a town in Andalusia located between Marbella and Malaga.
The local council is investigating the incident as a possible case of gender violence. The BBC has not independently verified reports of an arrest related to the case.
Tributes from Friends and Community
Maxine Hill, a friend and local resident, described Victoria as "just fantastic in every sense of the word." Hill emphasized Victoria's dedication to her children, stating:
If you looked up the definition of mother, that was her, she did everything for those kids.
In response to the tragedy, Hill has established a GoFundMe page to support Victoria's children. She explained the motivation behind this effort:
Victoria did not stop working and those kids had everything they could possibly want, and they deserve to still have that.
Everything that life has thrown at them recently and specifically the family, you just think, 'What can I do to help?'
Background and Life in Alhaurín el Grande
Victoria Hart relocated to Alhaurín el Grande in 1999 with her parents and sister. The town, which has a population of approximately 27,000, is situated on the northern slope of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range. According to the local tourist board, it offers scenic views over olive groves, fruit orchards, and market gardens of the Guadalhorce Valley.
Victoria's family integrated into the local expatriate community, forming friendships with other British residents. Hill, who is from north Wales, recalled the close-knit nature of their group:
Any sort of expat or British-speaking person over there, you automatically become friends with.
But there was a tight-knit group of us, specifically Victoria, her sister Jemma and then our other close friend and myself, just stuck together.
Professional Life and Family Commitment
Victoria was a business owner, operating multiple salons in Alhaurín el Grande under the name Victoria Hart Hair and Beauty. Hill highlighted Victoria's strong work ethic and dedication:
Even when she had the babies she was back to work almost immediately, even too much of a worker sometimes - I don't think she ever had a sick day in her life.
Support for the Children
Following Victoria's death, her children are being cared for by family members who have assumed full financial responsibility for their immediate needs. The funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign will be allocated to essentials such as food, clothing, utilities, and daily care.
We are raising funds to help ease this immediate burden and to provide some stability for the children while the family navigates the unimaginable, said Hill.
She also reflected on Victoria's character and the impact of her loss:
She was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. It's hard to tell you what she was, because at the moment I still don't believe what's happened.
Official Responses
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed that the department is providing support to Victoria's family and is in contact with local authorities in Spain.
The Guardia Civil in Malaga has been approached for an official statement regarding the investigation.
