Cocaine Seizure in Republic of Ireland

Cocaine with an estimated value of €5.25 million (£4.56 million) has been confiscated in the Republic of Ireland.

Gardai (Irish police) conducted multiple searches on vehicles and a business premises located in County Monaghan on Friday.

A man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The confiscated drugs will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for detailed analysis.

Operation Details and Support

In an official statement, Gardai confirmed that the operation was executed under Operation Tara by officers from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, with support from the Dublin Crime Response Team.

Additional assistance was provided by local units in Monaghan, the Custom Revenue Service, and the Belgian Federal Maritime Police.

Background on Operation Tara

Operation Tara was initiated in July 2021 to target drug trafficking networks involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, sale, and supply of controlled substances.
