New Headquarters to Foster Community Connection

A charity based in Guernsey intends for its new headquarters to serve as a "place where the community can come together to connect."

Bella Farrell, CEO of Health Connections, a health and wellbeing support charity, stated that the organisation purchased Beatrice House in St Peter Port in December 2025 for £1 million, funded through private donations.

Bella Farrell stands inside a charity shop, which is warmly lit, with shelves and racks displaying a mix of clothing, accessories, and decorative items. She is wearing a dark coat with a light grey scarf tucked inside it. She has shorter grey hair and a pair of glasses resting on top of their head.
Bella Farrell said the charity was working to help create a "more connected community"

Plans for Renovation and Community Engagement

The charity plans to renovate all six floors of Beatrice House to provide a space where both younger and older islanders can gather and engage with one another.

Farrell explained the significance of the building's name, saying:

"Beatrice means bringer of joy and I think that's what this is going to do for our charity and for our community."

Although the restoration is expected to cost an amount similar to the purchase price, Farrell emphasised the charity's mission, stating:

"Despite being pretty certain that it will cost the same again [£1m] to restore the whole building, our mission is creating a connected community.
Imagine older people teaching younger people skills and telling stories.
That's what creates a more compassionate, more connected community where people feel they can belong and everybody has that meaning and purpose."

Community Outreach and Contact

The charity’s vision highlights intergenerational interaction as a key element in fostering compassion and connection within the community.
