Boy George Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Boy George was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the British LGBT Awards, recognising his significant contributions to British musical culture. The award was presented to the Culture Club singer by French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier during a ceremony held in central London.

The 64-year-old musician had a successful evening, also winning the music artist of the year award, surpassing competitors such as Charli XCX and Doja Cat.
Emotional Reaction to the Award
Speaking to the BBC after receiving the award, Boy George expressed his surprise and emotion.
"I feel so emotional, I was sitting there with my best friends… and I can't even tell you how beautiful it was.
To be presented by Jean Paul Gaultier is very special, he is such a beautiful man.
Every time I've played in Paris or London, whether I've been big or small in my career, he has always been there."
Recent Eurovision Experience and Views
This recognition follows Boy George's recent participation as a guest performer for San Marino's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest, where he did not advance to the final. Prior to the event, he shared his thoughts with the BBC about the UK's future Eurovision entries.
"I think the emphasis should be about the song. Write the song first, then find the singer," he said.
"You need someone with an amazing voice, like a big European belting hit the sky voice […] and the song should be a ballad that's pretending to be disco, that's pretending to be Irish, but a bit gay. I mean, that's so Eurovision."
Career Highlights and Personal History
Boy George, born George O'Dowd, is best known for the 1980s hit "Karma Chameleon". He gained attention for challenging gender norms in fashion, notably wearing make-up and ribbons in his hair on the TV show Top of the Pops in 1982, during a period when many pop stars concealed their sexuality.

His career has also faced challenges. In 2006, he pleaded guilty to falsely reporting a burglary in New York. In 2009, he was sentenced to 15 months in jail in London for the false imprisonment of Audun Carlsen, a model and escort. He served four months of this sentence. Since then, Boy George has abstained from alcohol and drugs, attributing his career longevity to his sobriety.
