Heledd Wynn Newton Wins Urdd Eisteddfod Chief Composer Medal

Heledd Wynn Newton from Cardiff has won the chief composer medal at the Urdd Eisteddfod Ynys Môn, judged by Gareth Glyn and Owain Llwyd, with the award presented at the main ceremony on the Pavilion Stage.

Heledd Wynn Newton Wins Urdd Eisteddfod Chief Composer Medal

Heledd Wynn Newton from Cardiff has been awarded the chief composer medal at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Ynys Môn.

The competition required participants to compose either a cycle of songs using Welsh lyrics of their choice, a verse or chorus on Welsh words selected by the competitor, a composition for one or two instruments, or a composition for an instrumental ensemble.

The judges this year were Gareth Glyn and Owain Llwyd.

The prize is a trophy presented by Rheinallt and Rowenna Thomas, formerly of Cardiff, Llanfairpwll, and Menai Bridge.

The medal was presented during the main ceremony on the Pavilion Stage on the afternoon of Tuesday.
