Glain Llwyd Wins Eisteddfod yr Urdd Drama Medal
Glain Llwyd from Tal-y-bont near Aberystwyth has won the main drama medal at Eisteddfod yr Urdd Ynys Môn.
Glain is 21 years old and has been living in Cardiff since graduating from the BA Performance course at the Academy of Voice and Dramatic Arts Wales.
She has been involved with Eisteddfod yr Urdd since competing for the first time at the age of six.
She is a member of Theatr yr Urdd company and in August will play one of the lead roles in the musical Calon at the Millennium Centre.
Competition Requirements
The competition required composing a drama or monologue suitable for staging in a theatrical space for one, two, or three performers (not necessarily characters).
The expected length of the production was between 15 and 30 minutes.
This year’s judges were Gareth Evans-Jones and Mared Llywelyn.
The Drama Medal is awarded in memory of actress and producer Audrey Mechell, presented by her daughters Linda and Sandra and her grandchildren Elin, Gwen, Glesni, and Cai.
The winner will also spend time with the National Theatre company and receive further training with the BBC.
The medal was presented during the main ceremony on the White Pavilion stage on Wednesday afternoon.
