Katie Boulter Triumphs at Ostrava Open

Britain's Katie Boulter secured her fourth WTA Tour title by defeating Tamara Korpatsch in a three-set final at the Ostrava Open on Saturday.

The British number four, who had fallen to 120th in the world rankings, staged a comeback after losing the first set to overcome German Korpatsch 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.

Boulter's strong performance in the Czech Republic, following an inconsistent 2025 season, will see her rise 36 places to number 84 in the WTA world rankings, returning her to the top 100.

Coaching Changes and Dedication

The 29-year-old player parted ways with her long-time coach Biljana Veselinovic last year and appointed Michael Joyce as her new coach at the start of 2026.

"We're only a few weeks into business right now Mickey but we've got one in the bag," Boulter said, dedicating the win to Joyce.

She added with a lighthearted tone,

"And it was on your birthday week. Massive week for you, 53 years old, big one, so that was your present to you. I hope we can keep doing a lot of work."

Comparison with Emma Raducanu's Result

Boulter's title win contrasted with fellow Brit Emma Raducanu's performance, as Raducanu was decisively defeated by Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the Transylvania Open final.

Career Achievements and Match Details

Boulter has now won four WTA titles out of five finals she has reached. Her Ostrava Open victory adds to her two Nottingham titles in 2023 and 2024, as well as her San Diego triumph two years ago.

Despite dropping the first set after losing three consecutive games and also losing the opening game of the second set, Boulter regrouped effectively to push the match to a decider.

In the final set, she dominated by breaking the 30-year-old Korpatsch's serve three times, securing her first trophy in nearly 15 months.

"To my stable team, my whole family back home... Everyone close to me knows how hard this last year has been for me," Boulter added.
