Raducanu's Training Session Cut Short Amid Ankle Injury Concerns

Emma Raducanu’s participation at Wimbledon is uncertain after the British No 1 female player was forced to end her training session early at the All England Club, two days before her scheduled opening match.

Raducanu has been managing a right foot injury since her impressive run to the final at Queen’s Club. She had not trained for the previous two days after being seen leaving the venue wearing a medical boot on her right foot.

On Saturday afternoon, Raducanu returned to practice, this time with heavy tape applied to her right foot. She began warming up alongside Anna Kalinskaya on the Aorangi Park practice courts. The pair then moved to Court 3 where they started a practice set.

However, Raducanu’s demeanor quickly changed as she struggled to move during points, showing difficulty pushing off her right ankle when hitting the ball.

While trailing 0-4, 0-15 in the set, Raducanu hit a backhand into the net while off-balance. She then signaled to Kalinskaya that she could no longer continue playing. After sharing an embrace at the net, Raducanu and her coaching team left the court looking somber, with 15 minutes of scheduled practice time remaining. Kalinskaya and her team stayed on the court to complete their session with feeding drills.

Raducanu had been scheduled to fulfill her pre-tournament media commitments on Saturday afternoon. However, shortly after her practice, these obligations were postponed to Sunday. The 30th seed at the US Open is set to face Antonia Ruzic in the first round on Monday.
