Michael Dunlop Extends TT Victory Record
Michael Dunlop has increased his winning tally at the Isle of Man TT to 34 victories by securing the first Supersport race win of this year's event.
Dunlop surged ahead of Dean Harrison to claim the victory, marking his ninth consecutive win in the Supersport class. The competition between Dunlop and Harrison was intense, especially on the opening lap, where the two riders were closely matched. However, Dunlop, riding a Scars Ducati, managed to pull away on the second of the three laps.
After completing the three laps of the 37.73-mile closed public road circuit, Dunlop's winning margin was 24.470 seconds. Peter Hickman finished third, narrowly surpassing Paul Jordan, Josh Brookes, and Dominic Herbertson to secure the final podium position.
Race Dynamics and Performance
Following his historic achievement in 2025 as the first rider to win on a Ducati in 30 years and completing a Supersport double, Dunlop entered this year's race as the fastest rider during practice week. Despite this, Harrison provided strong competition, particularly on the first lap, where Dunlop led by only a tenth of a second at the lap's conclusion.
Exhibiting his characteristic speed, the Northern Ireland rider accelerated on the second lap, extending his lead to 12 seconds ahead of Harrison and maintaining this advantage through to the finish.
Harrison secured second place, while Hickman, who also delivered a strong second lap performance, claimed third place ahead of Jordan and Herbertson.
Upcoming Races
Dunlop is considered the favorite to win his second race of the week in the rescheduled Sportbike race, which is set to commence at 18:30 BST.
