Marquez Achieves 100th Victory at Balaton Park

Seven-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez secured his 100th career victory at Balaton Park by narrowly defeating fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta to win the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The two Spanish riders exchanged the lead multiple times before Marquez ultimately finished 1.5 seconds ahead of KTM's 22-year-old Acosta. Marquez's Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium in third place.

Marquez, aged 33, claimed his first Grand Prix win since September at San Marino. He started the race from pole position just weeks after recovering from surgeries on his foot and shoulder.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi was unable to finish the race after a collision on the first lap involving Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin and three other riders.

Marquez Reflects on Milestone Victory

After crossing the finish line, Marquez celebrated his milestone by standing on his bike and waving a red flag emblazoned with '100'.

"Super happy," Marquez said following the race.
"Expensive [hard-earned] win because after last year it changed everything," he added, referring to his 2025 season which ended prematurely due to a shoulder injury sustained in a collision with Bezzecchi.
"But the sport is like this. From one day to the other, one can change everything."
He also reflected on lessons learned from previous setbacks: "I learned this in 2020," referencing his withdrawal from that season after breaking his arm in an opening-round crash.

Saturday Sprint and Championship Standings

Marquez also dominated the Saturday sprint race, leading from start to finish to claim victory ahead of Acosta and Bezzecchi.

Jorge Martin, who is second in the overall championship standings, finished sixth in the sprint. This result allowed Bezzecchi to extend his championship lead to 20 points.
