Fitzpatrick's Redemption

Matt Fitzpatrick, 31, rebounded from a narrow defeat at the Players Championship the previous week to claim his third PGA Tour win at Palm Harbor, Florida. At the Players Championship, Fitzpatrick had led by one shot on the 17th tee but faltered with a par-bogey finish, allowing American Cameron Young to overtake him with a birdie-par close.

At the Valspar Championship, Fitzpatrick sank a crucial 14-foot putt on the 18th hole to birdie and secure a one-shot victory over American David Lipsky. He completed the final round with a three-under-par 68, finishing at 11 under overall. Fitzpatrick had to wait for two groups to finish their rounds before his win was officially confirmed.

"The big thing was, I felt like I was playing well. Going into this week, wanted to continue that and I felt like I had confidence in myself to do so," Fitzpatrick said. "To do that for four rounds was special this week."

Fitzpatrick's previous PGA Tour win was in 2023.
