West Bromwich Albion Sack Head Coach Eric Ramsay

West Bromwich Albion have dismissed head coach Eric Ramsay after just nine games in charge, with the club positioned only one point above the Championship relegation zone.

The 34-year-old was appointed on a two-and-a-half-year contract on 11 January, following the departure of Ryan Mason.

Ramsay, a former Manchester United coach, assumed control when Albion were 18th in the league table, seven points clear of the bottom three.

However, the Baggies failed to secure a victory under his leadership, and Tuesday's 1-1 home draw against Charlton marked his final match in charge.

A club statement announced:

"West Bromwich Albion have parted company with men's first team head coach Eric Ramsay. Assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence has also departed The Hawthorns.
First-team coach James Morrison will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis."

West Brom's Winless Streak Extends to Ten Games

Following the draw with Charlton, West Brom remain winless in ten consecutive matches.

Additional context includes Wrexham's strong performance and West Brom's ongoing precarious position in the league, as analyzed by Sam Parkin.

Ramsay reflected on his tenure, stating:

"The question around my job and the future is never one I can ever answer or attempt to answer.
I can only do what I can do over the course of a day and put my head on the pillow at night feeling I've turned over every stone.
I'm not saying I'm blameless - I can only feel I've controlled what I can control."

Ramsay's Background and Tenure at West Brom

Ramsay joined West Brom after a stint in Major League Soccer with Minnesota United, where he led the team to consecutive Conference play-off semi-finals.

Before moving to the United States, the Shrewsbury-born Welshman served as a first-team coach at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag and held an assistant coach position with the Wales men's national team.

His tenure at The Hawthorns began with a 3-2 defeat to Middlesbrough, followed by a 5-0 loss to Norwich City, which was the club's largest home defeat outside the top flight.

West Brom managed to salvage a late point from a 1-1 draw at Derby County, halting the losing streak, and also earned points from goalless draws against Stoke City and Birmingham City.

However, the team suffered heavy defeats to fellow strugglers Portsmouth and was eliminated from the FA Cup by Norwich City before a loss to league leaders Coventry City on Saturday.

Coaching Changes and Future Prospects

Ramsay's departure leaves West Brom searching for their fourth head coach in 14 months, following the exits of Carlos Corberan, who left for Valencia, and Tony Mowbray, who was dismissed before the end of last season.
