Guardiola Reflects on Decade at Manchester City Ahead of FA Cup Final

Pep Guardiola has described his ten years managing Manchester City as “fucking fun” and indicated that Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea might not be his last appearance leading the team at Wembley Stadium.

Although Guardiola's contract runs until the summer of 2027, speculation continues about a possible departure at the end of this season. The upcoming final will mark Manchester City's 24th cup appearance at the national stadium under Guardiola's leadership, with the manager aiming to secure his 17th major trophy during his decade in charge.

When asked if the number of honours he has won reflects his greatness, Guardiola referenced the club’s two Community Shield victories and humorously showed off his right biceps.

“Yeah. Of course, 19 titles in 10 years is not bad,”

he said. Addressing whether some people take his success for granted, he added:

“They don’t need to wait when I’m leaving, they know I’ve been fun. I’ve been fucking fun. So, 19 titles, fighting for 20 in 10 years, it’s not bad, honestly.”

Guardiola Confident About Future at Wembley

When questioned if the Wembley visit might be tinged with sadness if it turns out to be his last, Guardiola firmly dismissed the notion.

“No way. No way. I have a one year [left on my] contract,”

he stated. He also expressed disappointment that the club has not provided him with a dedicated space at Wembley despite his numerous appearances.

“I’m so disappointed that they don’t make a stand for Pep [at Wembley], the number of times I’ve been there at least a lounge or a box. Maybe I go 24 more times.
“It’s been a special place, with Barcelona in 1992 [winning the European Cup as a player] and after against Manchester United with Barcelona [winning the Champions League as head coach in 2011] for the second time and many times since I am here with semi-finals and finals. It’s really good to go to Wembley again. Top.”
