Marco Rose to Succeed Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth

Marco Rose has agreed to become the new manager of Bournemouth, signing a three-year contract to take over once Andoni Iraola departs at the end of the current season.

Bournemouth confirmed last Tuesday that Iraola, aged 43, will not be renewing his contract at Vitality Stadium.

Rose, a German coach, was among three candidates shortlisted by Bournemouth, alongside Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and Rayo Vallecano's Inigo Perez.

The 49-year-old Rose has been unattached since his dismissal from RB Leipzig in March 2025 and has yet to manage a club in England.

"Everyone at AFC Bournemouth looks forward to welcoming Marco to Vitality Stadium as he begins his role as head coach in the summer," Bournemouth stated.
"The club's immediate focus remains firmly on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible, with the players and staff continuing to show full commitment to achieving positive results and building on the current 13-game unbeaten run."

Managerial Changes and Background

Rose's appointment follows the announcement of Iraola's exit, which could influence further managerial movements across clubs.

Rose started his managerial career in 2012 with Lokomotive Leipzig and has since managed Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, and RB Leipzig.

His achievements include winning two Austrian Bundesliga titles and the Austrian Cup with Red Bull Salzburg, as well as the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup with RB Leipzig.

Rose was also considered for the Tottenham Hotspur managerial role after Thomas Frank was dismissed in February.

Looking Ahead for Bournemouth

Upon Rose's arrival, Bournemouth will be preparing for their fifth consecutive Premier League season and potentially their inaugural European campaign.

Currently, Bournemouth sits eighth in the Premier League following their recent victory at Newcastle, trailing sixth-placed Chelsea only on goal difference.
