John Souttar Commits Future to Rangers

Scotland defender John Souttar has signed a new contract with Rangers, securing his stay at the Ibrox club until May 2027.

The 29-year-old's previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, but he has now committed to remain with Rangers for at least one more season. Additionally, the club holds an option to extend his contract by a further year.

Souttar began his career in the Dundee United academy before spending over six years at Hearts. He transferred to Rangers in the summer of 2022.

During his time at Rangers, Souttar has made 127 appearances and scored four goals. He was part of the squad that won the Scottish League Cup in the 2023-24 season and has played a significant role this season as manager Danny Rohl's team pursues the Scottish Premiership title.

Rangers currently trail league leaders Hearts by two points, having secured a 4-2 victory over the Tynecastle side last Sunday.

"It is an exciting time to be here and an exciting time to be involved at the club so I am delighted," Souttar said after signing the new contract. "I understand the position I am in, how much of a privilege it is to play here, the demands here and I am personally really happy and excited to know my future is here."

Manager Danny Rohl Praises Souttar

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl, whose team is currently on a 12-match unbeaten run in domestic competition, described Souttar as a key figure in the squad.

"We are delighted John has agreed this new contract with the club," Rohl stated. "Keeping our best players and our leaders is very important to having success going forward, while having a Scottish presence in the squad is also going to be key.
"This is great news for everyone at the club with so much to look forward to between now and the end of the season, and hopefully for John, a World Cup to come at the end of it."
