Chris Gunter's Coaching Role and Wales U19s Performance

Chris Gunter, who has played for Cardiff City, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Charlton Athletic, and AFC Wimbledon, spoke about his disappointment following Wales' exit from the UEFA Men's Under-19 Championship. However, he declined to comment on his own future amid speculation linking him to a coaching role at Oxford United under former Wales teammate Aaron Ramsey.

Wales suffered a 3-0 defeat to Denmark at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Saturday, marking their third consecutive loss in the tournament.

"I've been so busy making sure that we have appeared in this tournament," said Gunter when asked about a potential move to League One club Oxford United. "There's been absolutely no time to be talking about potential moves or anything else other than that."

Wales' Challenging Campaign in the U19 Euros

Gunter's team had previously endured heavy defeats, including a 7-0 loss to Spain and a 4-0 defeat to Germany in the opening matches of the eight-team tournament hosted in North Wales.

Before the final group game against Denmark, Wales' chances of advancing in the competition had already been eliminated. However, a place in a FIFA Under-20 World Cup play-off was still at stake.

"I know everybody associated with the tournament were all really disappointed because we wanted to do more," Gunter told Wales.

"I think for the players, in the longer piece it'll be a really good thing because of the experiences that they've had.

"But in the short term, it's a real eye-opener of the levels that are there and exist in international football.

"For them, the bigger thing for them is that these boys want to go on and represent their country in senior football.

"That's what you're coming up against, but they're naturally disappointed."
