Trusty to Serve Suspension While King’s Ban is Overturned

Celtic's appeal against Auston Trusty's red card in their Scottish Premiership defeat to Hibernian was unsuccessful, resulting in the defender facing a three-match suspension.

Conversely, St Mirren succeeded in their appeal against Richard King's sending off during Saturday's loss to Motherwell, leading to the centre-back's suspension being rescinded.

Details of Trusty’s Red Card and Suspension

Trusty, aged 27, was shown a red card when the score was 1-1 at Celtic Park after an altercation with Hibernian's Jamie McGrath during a corner kick. The defending champions ultimately lost the match 2-1.

The defender will miss three upcoming matches: the Old Firm derby against Rangers on Sunday, followed by league fixtures away to Aberdeen and at home against Motherwell.

Violent conduct offenses carry an automatic two-match suspension; however, Trusty received an additional one-match ban due to a prior sending off in the competition this season.

Trusty will be eligible to play in the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Rangers on 8 March.

The Scottish Football Association (SFA) issued a statement regarding the appeal: "Payment of 350 Appeal Deposit to be made within 30 days."

Celtic Manager Reacts to VAR Decision

"I've just had a word with the referee. He said he was going to just have a word with the two players then VAR intervened and said it was violent conduct.
"You can't do this if that's the rules now. It doesn't matter if someone is holding on to you. You can't, in an attempt to break away, you can't thrust down in the manner in which he did."

King’s Red Card Overturned After Appeal

St Mirren defender Richard King, 24, was sent off in his team's 5-0 defeat to Motherwell in Paisley on Saturday. The incident occurred with St Mirren trailing 3-0, involving King and Motherwell's Callum Slattery, who fell to the ground.

Referee Calum Scott did not witness the incident firsthand and issued the red card based on his assistant's advice. VAR did not intervene to prompt a review of the footage.

An independent panel later determined that King's dismissal was unwarranted, and he is now eligible to play in St Mirren's upcoming league match against Livingston at Almondvale on Saturday.
