Glamorgan Interested in Australian Seamer Sam Elliott
Glamorgan are reportedly interested in acquiring Australian seam bowler Sam Elliott ahead of the upcoming County Championship Division One season.
The 25-year-old Elliott currently leads Victoria's wicket-taking charts in this season's Sheffield Shield, Australia's premier first-class cricket competition, having taken 28 wickets in five matches.
He is the son of former Australia and Glamorgan opening batsman Matthew Elliott, who had two playing spells with the Welsh county during the 2000s.
Glamorgan aims to strengthen their pace bowling lineup before commencing their County Championship Division One campaign with a home fixture against Yorkshire on Friday, 3 April.
Elliott's availability is considered advantageous, as he could participate in Glamorgan's six Championship matches prior to the arrival of fellow Australian Nathan McAndrew for the T20 Blast.
While Elliott has experience in T20 cricket, having played for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League, Glamorgan primarily intends to utilize him to reinforce their four-day bowling attack.
He boasts notable red-ball achievements in Australia, having dismissed prominent batsmen such as Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne during the current Sheffield Shield season.
Player Statistics
Sam Elliott holds a first-class bowling average of 22.47 and a batting average of 23.44, reflecting his capabilities as a seam bowler and lower-order batsman.
