Day One Review: Australia Holds Narrow Advantage

Thirteen wickets fell on a turbulent first day in Perth, leaving Australia in a marginally better position. India was dismissed for 198 runs midway through the day, and Australia ended the day 102 runs behind, but with seven wickets remaining.

India’s innings could have been more challenging if not for Jemimah Rodrigues, who compiled a patient fifty against the pace and skill of Annabel Sutherland and Lucy Hamilton. Sutherland took 4 wickets for 46 runs, while Hamilton, a 19-year-old left-arm bowler making her Test debut, claimed three wickets.

India also had a highlight with Sayali Satghare, who took the wicket of Alyssa Healy, caught at point for 13 runs, in Healy’s penultimate innings for Australia. At stumps, Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 43, and Annabel Sutherland continued to pose a threat.

Looking Ahead

The match promises to be exciting as play resumes. The session is scheduled to start at 1:20 pm local time, 4:20 pm AEDT, and 10:50 am IST.
