The Cambridge men's team entered the 171st event as strong favourites. Despite challenging and blustery conditions along the 4.3-mile course from Putney to Chiswick, Oxford remained competitive for much of the race.

However, the superior performance of the Light Blues became evident in the final third of the race as they pulled ahead to win by 11.02 seconds. This marked Cambridge's seventh victory in eight years.

In the 80th edition of the women's race, Oxford started strongly. Cambridge was unable to respond effectively, allowing the Dark Blues to maintain their lead and win by 9.4 seconds. This victory marked Oxford's 31st overall success in the women's Boat Race.
