Carjacking Incident in Westerhailes

A woman was robbed of her car at knifepoint in Edinburgh in what police have described as a "frightening" incident.

The 22-year-old driver had parked her white Peugeot 208 behind the Scotmid store at Morvenside Close in Westerhailes when the robbery occurred at 15:20 on Tuesday.

While she was seated in the vehicle, a man approached, threatened her with a knife, and demanded her keys.

After she exited the car, a member of the public came to assist her. The assailant then entered the driver's seat, while another man nearby got into the passenger seat, and the pair drove away.

Police Response and Description of Suspects

Police Scotland confirmed the woman was not physically injured but was left shaken by the event.

Officers are conducting extensive inquiries to locate the suspects, who are described as white and gaunt in appearance.

One suspect is aged between 30 and 40 years, has a scruffy blonde beard, and was wearing a black tracksuit and baseball cap.

The second man was wearing a navy tracksuit and a black balaclava.

Investigation Efforts

Detective Inspector Robert Wallace stated that officers are collecting CCTV footage from the vicinity.

"This is a busy area and I am confident that there were people nearby who haven't yet spoken to police. I urge them to please get in touch.
I also ask anyone with personal footage or dash-cam to review their footage and come forward if it holds anything relevant."

Police are encouraging anyone with information to contact Police Scotland.
