Three Arrested Over Lurgan Police Station Attack

Police investigating an attack on a police station in Lurgan in March have arrested three individuals in the area.

Six weeks ago, two masked men, one armed with a firearm, hijacked a delivery driver and threatened to kill him if he did not transport a bomb to a police station.

On Wednesday morning, a 48-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested under the Terrorism Act. Additionally, a 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, obstructing police, and assisting an offender.

Police Statement on the Incident

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) commented on the attack:

"This cowardly and widely condemned attack, which took place on the night of Monday 30 March, put innocent lives at risk.
I'm keen to offer assurance that we will continue in our efforts to bring those responsible to justice, and would encourage anyone with information to get in touch."

Details of the Bomb and Evacuations

In March, the PSNI described the device as a "crude, but viable improvised explosive device" and indicated it was "highly likely" that dissident republican groups were responsible for the attack.

Approximately 100 homes were evacuated at the time of the incident as a precautionary measure.
