Assistance for Heating Oil Users in North Lincolnshire
Households in North Lincolnshire that depend on heating oil are set to receive financial assistance to help with their energy bills.
Unlike consumers using gas and electricity, whose prices are regulated by Ofgem, those relying on heating oil do not benefit from price caps.
More than 600 households in the region have already registered to receive support, and North Lincolnshire Council is encouraging others to register promptly.
Government Funding and Local Response
In March, the government announced approximately £50 million in support for households struggling with the increased costs of heating oil, a rise driven by the conflict in Iran.
Council leader Rob Waltham stated:
"We know this is hitting people in our rural communities hard – families who rely on heating oil don't have the same protections as those on mains gas.
If you use heating oil then come forward – help will be available from the council."
Impact of Price Increases
Since the onset of the Iran war, some heating oil users have experienced their bills doubling, faced order cancellations, or have been unable to obtain supplies altogether.
Households can register online to receive information about the available financial support. For those requiring assistance with the registration process, community hubs are available to provide help.
The support scheme is expected to be operational before the end of the month.
