Storm Dave Causes Tree to Fall on Houses in Staffordshire

Two families have been rendered homeless after a large tree fell onto their homes during strong winds brought by Storm Dave. The incident occurred in Windsor Crescent, Kniver, Staffordshire, at approximately 22:00 BST on Saturday.

Fire crews responded to reports of a tree that had fallen onto a house and a car. Images from the scene revealed a large hole in the roofs of two semi-detached houses, with cars completely crushed beneath the fallen tree.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that no injuries were reported. Firefighters remained at the scene until around midnight before leaving.

Residents Express Concern for Safety

Ryan Bridgewood, a resident of one of the affected homes, expressed his fear for the safety of his children during the incident.

"We just heard an almighty crash, it was like an earthquake had hit the house. I've looked at those trees swaying in the wind before and have been worried about them.
As soon as I heard the bang, I looked outside and saw the tree leaning on the house and I feared for my kids' lives."

Weather Warnings Issued Ahead of Storm

The Met Office had issued warnings that Storm Dave would bring strong winds and periods of heavy rain on Saturday evening. Amber and yellow national severe weather warnings were in place for parts of northern England, North Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as the region recovers from the impact of the storm.
