Additional Charges Following Southampton Protest

Six more men have been charged in connection with a protest in Southampton concerning the murder of Henry Nowak.

During the protest on Tuesday, 2 June, eleven police officers and a police dog sustained injuries as objects such as wheelie bins and chairs were thrown at law enforcement personnel.

Background of the Protest

The demonstration occurred after the release of police bodycam footage showing Nowak, 18, from Essex, handcuffed while lying dying after being stabbed by Vickrum Digwa, 23. Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment on 1 June.

Hampshire police have stated that a total of 20 individuals have now been charged following the protests.

Details of the Incident

Henry Nowak, originally from Chafford Hundred, was fatally stabbed in Southampton in December by Vickrum Digwa. Digwa falsely claimed he had been racially abused and acted in self-defence.

Nowak was a first-year accountancy and finance student at the University of Southampton.
