Second man charged in Great Yarmouth teen beach rape inquiry

Norfolk Police have charged a second man in an investigation into the rape of two teenage girls on a Great Yarmouth beach. Both suspects are due in court on Tuesday 28 July.

Detectives investigating the rape of two teenage girls on a beach in Great Yarmouth have charged a second man. Norfolk Police said Dawid Wlach, 35, of Dover Court, Caister-on-Sea, was charged in connection with the alleged incident after appearing at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre on Saturday 18 July.

Police were called to South Beach Parade in the seaside town shortly after 00:30 BST on 16 May, and a manhunt was launched after reports of the alleged attack. Wlach, who police said is a Polish national, has been charged with one count of rape, one count of oral rape, one count of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault. He has been conditionally bailed.

Wlach is the second man to be charged in the inquiry. Madalin Ilinca, 34, of Suffolk Place in Great Yarmouth, had earlier been charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault by penetration. Police said Ilinca is a Romanian national and he has been remanded in custody.

Both men are due to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday 28 July.
