Reform Candidate Withdraws from Welsh Election
Corey Edwards, a leading Reform UK candidate, has withdrawn from the upcoming Welsh Parliament election following the emergence of a photo in which he appeared to perform a Nazi salute.
Edwards, who previously served as a Conservative special adviser, was announced as the Reform party's lead candidate for the Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg constituency on Wednesday.
After the photo was made public, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage defended Edwards, acknowledging the image "looked terrible" and stating that he "wouldn't approve of it," but also confirming that Edwards would not be expelled from the party.
"The image looked terrible and I wouldn't approve of it," said Nigel Farage, "but he will not be kicked out of the party."
However, on Friday, a spokesperson for Reform UK confirmed that Edwards had informed the party of his decision to step down as a candidate, citing "issues with his mental health" as the reason for his withdrawal.
