Cancels Bake Off Episode Featuring Scott Mills
has announced that a celebrity episode of The Great British Bake Off starring DJ Scott Mills will not be aired. Mills, the former Radio 2 breakfast show host, was dismissed by the BBC last month following a historic allegation of serious sexual offences.
Mills has stated that he "fully co-operated and responded" to a previous police investigation, which did not lead to criminal charges, and has declined to comment further.
Although Mills had already filmed The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, said it had "carefully considered the circumstances" and decided not to broadcast the episode featuring him.
"Acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Scott, we don't believe it would be appropriate to air the episode at this time," said.
They added that an alternative episode of Celebrity GBBO will be shown instead.
Mills was scheduled to appear alongside singer Rag'n'Bone Man, DJ Edith Bowman, and JLS star Aston Merrygold in the episode.
Scott Mills Removed from Boyzone Concert Line-Up
In addition, Mills has been removed from the lineup for Boyzone's upcoming concerts at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in June. He was set to be the "special guest DJ" for the Irish boyband's Two For The Road reunion shows.
His name has now been taken off the promotional materials for both concerts. It remains unclear whether Mills was removed or chose to withdraw from the events.
Previously, Mills had expressed excitement about the shows, saying:
"What a dream to support the lads this summer, it's going to be two nights of big tunes, big singalongs and plenty of 90s nostalgia. I hope you're ready!"
Other support acts announced for the concerts include fellow 90s pop groups S Club and B*Witched.
Mills Steps Back from Charity Role
Mills has also stepped down as an ambassador for the MS Society UK, a multiple sclerosis charity. He became an ambassador in 2015 after his mother was diagnosed with the progressive neurological condition.
The charity released a statement on Tuesday:
"Scott Mills has been a valued MS Society Ambassador for over 10 years. In light of the current news, Scott is stepping back from this role while we review the situation.
We take concerns of this nature and the trust placed in us as a charity extremely seriously. Our priority is the MS community and ensuring we can continue to support everyone living with and affected by MS."
Last week, children's cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK announced it had decided to "part ways" with Mills, who had been a patron since 2021.
Background on Allegations and Investigation
Mills was dismissed by the BBC in March after it was revealed that the Metropolitan Police had launched an investigation in 2016 into allegations of serious sexual offences involving a teenage boy under 16, dating from 1997 to 2000.
The investigation was closed in 2019 when prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to bring charges.
The BBC stated it was aware of a police investigation into historical sexual offence allegations against Mills in 2017 but decided to terminate his contract last month after learning the alleged victim was under 16.
In a statement last week, Mills said:
"An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.
As the police have stated, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined that the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.
Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed seven years ago, I hope the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment."
