Officer Dies After Serious Crash While Responding to Emergency

An officer has died following a serious car crash while responding to an emergency call, police have confirmed.

PC Bradley Corke, 27, died on Saturday after sustaining critical injuries in the collision that occurred in Farningham, near Swanley, on Thursday, according to Kent Police.

The crash involved a marked Ford Focus police car and a Volkswagen Scirocco on the westbound A20 London Road, at the junction with Button Street, at approximately 19:45 GMT.

A colleague who was in the same police vehicle remains critically ill in hospital, and a member of the public in the second vehicle continues to receive treatment for serious injuries, the force stated.

Tributes and Reactions

In an official statement, Kent Police said:

"Bradley selflessly gave up his life while trying to save the lives of others who were in danger.
His bravery, dedication, and passion for helping others will not be forgotten."

Family and colleagues of PC Corke, who had served with the force since 2022 and was based in Tonbridge, were described as "devastated" by the force.

Neil Mennie, chairman of Kent Police Federation, commented:

"This sad incident serves as a horrific example of the risks police officers face.
Bradley was a popular colleague who will be much missed."

Police are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant footage of the crash to come forward and contact them.
