Police have named a man killed in an island quad bike crash on Papa Stour in Shetland. Peter Peterson, 51, was found with serious injuries at about 17:30 on Friday. He was taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick where he later died.

Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Sgt Neil MacDonald said: "Our thoughts are with Peter's family, and they have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Papa Stour is located to the west of mainland Shetland and has a permanent population of about 15 people.
