Policing Operation in Scarva Amid Protests

A significant policing operation is currently underway in Scarva as two counter protests occur simultaneously.

Approximately 1,500 pro-Palestinian marchers departed from Lurgan on Saturday morning, proceeding towards Newry along the canal towpath, which passes through Scarva.

Counter-Protest in County Down Village

Several hundred individuals have gathered in the County Down village to protest against the solidarity march.

Police Presence and Measures

Dozens of officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), some equipped with riot gear, are present at the scene along with water cannons. Multiple bridges spanning the canal have been closed, and access to certain roads in the vicinity has been restricted.

It is reported that the pro-Palestinian marchers were stopped by police on the outskirts of Scarva.

Dozens of PSNI officers, including those in riot gear, and water cannons remain deployed to manage the situation.
