Police Cars Rammed and Officers Injured in Lisburn Robbery Pursuit

Robbery Incident at Lisburn Newsagents

Two police vehicles were rammed and officers sustained minor injuries during a pursuit following a robbery at a shop in Lisburn on Saturday afternoon.

Two men reportedly entered a newsagents on Milltown Avenue at approximately 14:45 GMT on Saturday. They jumped over the counter and took money from the till.

The Police Service for Northern Ireland (PSNI) stated that one of the men also brandished a metal object towards a staff member; however, no injuries were reported from this action.

The suspects fled in a white Audi A3, taking money and a staff member's handbag.

Suspect Descriptions and Vehicle Details

Both men are described as being in their 30s. The first man is approximately 5'9" tall and was wearing a brown collared hooded parka with fur trim.

The second man is around 5'7" tall and was dressed in a black beanie hat, black jumper, turquoise t-shirt, blue jeans, and black trainers.

Police believe there were additional individuals in the vehicle.

Pursuit and Dangerous Driving

During the pursuit, the vehicle was driven at high speed, including driving on the wrong side of the road, navigating a roundabout in the wrong direction, and refusing to stop for police.

Items were thrown from the vehicle's window at officers, including bottles of alcohol and a steel chisel.

Police Response and Investigation

The PSNI commented on the incident:

"Thankfully our officers reported minor injuries - however, we could have been looking at much more serious consequences today - and those officers are being appropriately supported."

Authorities are collaborating with An Garda Síochána (Irish police) to investigate the crime.
