One Fatality in Collision at Dimmocks Cote Level Crossing

One person died in a collision between a train and a car at Dimmocks Cote level crossing in Cambridgeshire. Rail services between Waterbeach and Ely remain suspended with major disruption expected until 16:00.

Fatal Crash at Level Crossing

One individual has died following a collision at a level crossing.

British Transport Police (BTP) reported that they were called to the Dimmocks Cote level crossing on the A1123 at Stretham, located between Waterbeach and Ely in Cambridgeshire, at approximately 10:15 GMT on Tuesday. The incident involved a collision between a train and a car.

"Officers responded alongside paramedics and sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene,"

said a BTP spokesperson.

Rail Disruptions and Response

National Rail confirmed that all lines between Waterbeach and Ely were closed, resulting in no train services running between Cambridge North and Ely.

"Major disruption is expected until approximately 16:00,"

a National Rail spokesperson added.

BTP also stated that another individual involved in the incident was receiving treatment for minor injuries. Authorities have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information.

Travel service provider Inrix reported that buses are replacing CrossCountry, Great Northern, and Greater Anglia train services affected by the disruption.
