Man Dies and Two Seriously Injured in Dumfries and Galloway Crash

Fatal Collision on A709 Near Lochmaben

A man has died and two others sustained serious injuries following a collision between a van and a car in Dumfries and Galloway.

The 50-year-old driver of a black Vauxhall Vectra died in hospital after the crash, which occurred on the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road near Lochmaben at approximately 19:35 on Saturday.

Two occupants of a white Citroen Dispatch van, a 67-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, were also transported to hospital where they remain in serious condition.

Authorities closed the road for around seven hours, reopening it at about 03:30 on Sunday. An appeal has been issued for information and dashcam footage related to the incident.
