Two individuals, including a child, were present inside a residence during an arson attack in County Londonderry, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Authorities reported receiving a call about a fire at a property located in Rockview Park, Moneymore, shortly before 14:00 GMT on Thursday. Firefighters promptly responded and extinguished the fire.

The child escaped without injury, while a man was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening. Additionally, several residents from nearby homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

A man in his 30s has been apprehended on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
