Accused Appear in Court Over Death of 12-Year-Old
Two individuals accused of murdering a 12-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle have appeared before the court.
Bobby Bloomfield sustained serious injuries in Pilgrims Hatch, near Brentwood in Essex, on Sunday evening and died in hospital several hours later.
A 15-year-old boy, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, and William Lunnon, 43, of Ashwells Road, Pilgrims Hatch, attended Chelmsford Magistrates' Court earlier.
Presiding magistrate Lynette Brown announced that the defendants are scheduled to appear next at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday.
During the brief hearing, the defendants only confirmed their names and dates of birth before being remanded in custody.
Circumstances of the Incident
Prosecutor Rohini Majumdar informed the court that Bobby and three friends were on private land they believed to be "abandoned properties."
She stated that the group ran off but were "followed and chased" by a car, which subsequently struck Bobby.
The incident on Ashwells Road was reported to Essex Police shortly before 17:40 BST.

Family and School Statements
Bobby was a Year 8 pupil at Shenfield High School. His family described him as someone who "brought light and life into all our lives."
In a statement, the school said:
"Bobby was a student who brought so much fun and happiness to those around him. He was charismatic, full of energy and had a great sense of humour."
Additional Arrests and Investigation
On Tuesday, Essex Police arrested two women, aged 65 and 45, and two men, aged 65 and 54, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. All remain in custody.
Essex Police described the investigation as "complex" and stated that detectives are continuing to build a detailed picture of the circumstances surrounding Bobby's death.
