Admission of Keeping Mother's Remains in Freezer
Christopher Phillips, aged 60, has admitted to unlawfully and respectfully withholding the burial of his 89-year-old mother.
He confessed to keeping the remains of his mother, Sylvia Phillips, in a freezer for at least three years.
The police discovered Sylvia Phillips' body in February after her doctor requested an inquiry into her welfare.
The body was found in a freezer at her home in Porthcawl.

Court Hearing and Charges
During a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, Christopher Phillips pleaded guilty to charges of preventing lawful and decent burial, as well as two counts of fraud.
The fraud charges relate to his failure to notify the Department for Work and Pensions and Bridgend County Borough Council about his mother's death.
Sylvia Phillips passed away sometime in 2023.
Further Investigations and Sentencing
On Wednesday, an inquest heard that a pathologist was unable to determine the cause of her death and that further investigations were required.
Christopher Phillips is scheduled to be sentenced on 2 June. Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke informed him that he had admitted to very serious offences.
