Jeffrey Donaldson Requests Forfeiture of Knighthood and Resignation from Privy Council
Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson, who has recently been convicted of child sexual abuse, has formally requested to forfeit his knighthood. In addition, he has submitted his immediate resignation from the Privy Council.
These actions were confirmed through a statement released by his solicitor, John McBurney.
"I have this afternoon issued a letter signed by Jeffrey Donaldson to the Cabinet Office indicating a request to renounce and forfeit his knighthood."
On Monday, Donaldson was found guilty on 18 counts of sexual abuse, including one count of rape. The offenses were committed against two women during their childhood.
